I started this blog in July of 2009 and have revamped it a few times since then. I have yet to really find my voice or what I'm doing on here, but I think that's ok.
I'm a 29 year old wife and mother of two who lives in Berkeley; CA, a place that has the best food, the best people and the best political views (in my own humble opinion). In November of 2001 I met a cute 16 year old boy, and a few months later in January 2002 he asked me to be his girlfriend. Almost 11 years later we are happily married and navigating life through all of the blessings and obstacles that we've been dealt.
Of the obstacles: Our first is that my darling husband has chosen a career in academia. This means a long (like 7 years, 11 if you include undergrad) time spent in grad school. But really this is a blessing because although we don't make a lot of money, what we do have is flexibility and lots of time to spend with our family and the ability to pursue a life that will one day be everything we could imagine. Our hope is that in the Fall of 2013, Justin will go on the job market and by Fall of 2014 we will land in a place that we can start to call home.
Of our blessings: In June of 2008 we were surprised to find out that our little family of two was going to become a family of three. In February 2009 we were blessed with our amazing daughter, Belle. Life changed completely. I decided to not to work outside the home anymore and was blessed with the opportunity for me to babysit a little girl who is the same age as Belle full time which allowed me to work and still be at home raising our child. In the summer of 2011, we were ready for our blessing number two and were thrilled with how quickly we found out that baby number two was on it's way! We always planned to space our children out three years between each and were lucky enough to have baby #1 and baby #2 exactly three years and six weeks apart. Leo was born on April 19, 2012.
Although my life is not defined by my husband or children, they are the biggest focus for me right now. I know that the years my children are young and the time my husband is in graduate school will be fleeting so I am trying to soak it all in while I can.
Outside of my family I do have other interests. Generally they include reading, nail polish, eating and yoga. Thrilling subjects that I'm sure you'll want to read all about!
I try to keep this blog minimal on the kid part because I know I can go overboard with pictures and stories, but if you want to read more about them, you can read all my gushy posts over at babygomers.com.
This blog for now is meant to be a journal of goings on, including what I'm wearing, what I'm eating and what color my nails are as well as goals and general musings on life.
